Tauber Bioinformatics Research Center
The Tauber Bioinformatics Research Center (TBRC) at the University of Haifa was established with a generous donation from the Laszlo N. Tauber Family Foundation. It operates under the auspices of the Research Authority at the university.

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that connects biology, medicine, and agriculture with mathematics, statistics, and computer science. It involves handling large and complex biological datasets using specialized algorithms optimized for diverse data types. These algorithms efficiently process and analyze the data, enabling researchers to extract valuable insights.
The TBRC's main objective is to develop scalable high-performance computing (HPC) hardware and software solutions for addressing the challenges of "big data" in biomedicine and life sciences. It focuses particularly on analyzing high-throughput "omics" data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
At TBRC, our mission is to delve into the intricate genetic landscape of life and disease. Leveraging our expertise in high-throughput sequencing data analysis, we collaborate with research laboratories and organizations to transform raw data into valuable insights and practical applications. Our areas of specialization include virus sequencing data analysis, single-cell sequencing and imaging data analysis, and whole-genome sequencing data analysis.
We use a self-developed platform for creating and launching bioinformatics pipelines. Pipelines run on our own multi-server clusters located in Israel and the USA.
To visualise the results obtained, we use a tailor made dashboard system, Also we develop custom dashboards for individual projects.
We work in Bioinformatics for more than 10 years. For this time we published a lot of articles in various journals including Cell, Nature Communications, PNAS etc.
